2. Install Database Security Central Server
Discover how to install Security Central (Audit Vault) Server software.
2.1 Review Prerequisites
Before installing, verify the following:
- A physical server or virtual machine is available, and you have console access to it.
- Network mask, gateway, DNS server, and NTP server details are available.
- You have network access to Oracle Software Delivery Cloud to download the bits.
- You have credentials to download the bits for Oracle Database Security Central.
Note:

As Security Central Server is a complete software appliance including its fine tuned and hardened operating system and database, do not make operating system-level or database changes from the command line unless instructed by Oracle documentation or Oracle Support.

For Proof of Concept (POC) or User Acceptance Testing (UAT), we recommend deploying Database Security Central on OCI using marketplace images or on supported virtual environments for faster installation.

Supported virtual environments:

Oracle VM Server for x86, release 3.2.8, 3.2.9, 3.4.4, and 3.4.6

VMWare VSphere, release 6.0, 6.7, 7.0, and 8.0

Oracle VM VirtualBox, release 5.2, 6.0, 6.1, and 7.0

Kernel-based virtual machine (KVM)

For storage, start with a single disk of 370 GB and add more storage based on sizing guide specifications.

2.2 Download the Security Central (DBSecCentral Audit Vault) Server Software

Visit Oracle Software Delivery Cloud: https://edelivery.oracle.com

Sign in using your Oracle account.

Search for: Oracle Database Security Central

Review the selected software package and continue.

Accept the Oracle license agreement.

Download the Database Security Central Server ISO file: Oracle Database Security Central 2.26.0.0.0 - Audit Vault Server

Verify the ISO checksum using the SHA-256 value provided on the download page or in the release notes. For example:
sha256sum <dbsec-central-avs-installer-disc-26.0.0.0.0>.iso
2.3 Prepare the Installation Media
For a virtual machine:

Download the Oracle Database Security Central ISO to the virtualization platform.

Attach the ISO to the virtual machine as bootable media.

Confirm that the virtual machine boots from the ISO.
For a physical server:
-
Mount the Oracle Database Security Central ISO.
-
Configure the server BIOS or boot menu to boot from the ISO.

In case the ISO file is available remotely on another host, then attach file using remote installation tools to complete the installation.
2.4 Install the Oracle Database Security Central

Boot the server or virtual machine using the Oracle Database Security Central ISO.

When the installation screen appears, press Enter to begin the installation.

When prompted, enter a new password for the
rootuser. -
Re-enter the password to confirm. Note the password.

The installer process installs the operating system and the required Oracle Database Security Central components. After installing operating system packages, the system reboots.

Now, log in as root from the console. The installation continues automatically. You may see progress messages such as:
Installing DBSecCentral bootstrap Beginning installation of Audit Vault Server dependencies Creating repository Relinking Oracle Database Installing AVS application Migrating repository to ASM storage -
When prompted, select the network interface used for Oracle Database Security Central access.

Enter the network details including IP address, Network mask, and Gateway, if required, and then select OK.

When the installation completion message appears, acknowledge the message. The system returns to the login prompt.
At this point, the Oracle Database Security Central software is installed, but the post-installation configuration is still required.
