AIX 7.2 TL 0 SP 1

Starting with Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (, AIX 7.2 TL 0 SP 1 is certified on IBM AIX on POWER Systems (64-Bit) systems.

In addition to the items listed in section, "Features Not Available or Restricted in Oracle Database 12c," in Oracle Database Readme, the following products or features are not supported:

ASMLIB is not supported.

Database Smart Flash Cache Support

Database Smart Flash Cache is supported only on Oracle Solaris and Oracle Linux.

Oracle Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System (Oracle ACFS) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management Dynamic Volume Manager (Oracle ADVM) Support

Although Oracle ADVM supports raw disks in Oracle Automatic Storage Management disk groups, Oracle ADVM device special files created through raw(8) are not supported; Oracle ADVM only supports block device special files.

Oracle ASM Filter Driver Support

Oracle Automatic Storage Management Filter Driver (Oracle ASMFD) is supported only on Linux x86-64.

Oracle database instance at startup loads This library has dependencies on IBM XL Fortran runtime libraries. If they are not installed on the system, startup fails with the following error:

ORA-40238: invalid linear algebra shared library

When you run Pro*FORTRAN programs using Oracle Database 12c Release 2 (12.2) on IBM AIX 7.2, they may fail with the following error:

/usr/local/packages/fortran_remote/13-jan2012//usr/bin/.orig/f77: 1501-287 (S) 
This compiler does not support AIX 7.2. Please check with IBM ( to see if there is a PTF for this compiler that supports this AIX level make: 1254-004 
The error code from the last command is 41.


Use Oracle Database 12c Release 2 (12.2) on IBM AIX 6.1 or IBM AIX 7.1 to run Pro*FORTRAN programs.
