3.6 Checking the Operating System Version

To determine whether your computer is running a 64-bit (x64) Windows operating system, perform these steps.

1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
2. On the General tab, under the heading of System, view the displayed text.
   You will see text similar to "64-bit Operating System" if you have the x64 version of the operating system installed.
