2 Configuring Servers for Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Oracle RAC

You must complete certain operating system tasks on your servers before you install Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a Cluster and Oracle Real Application Clusters.

The values provided in this chapter are for installation minimums only. Oracle recommends that you configure production systems in accordance with planned system loads.

• Checking Server Hardware and Memory Configuration
  Perform these tasks to gather your current system information.
• General Server Requirements
  Verify that servers where you install Oracle Grid Infrastructure meet the minimum requirements for installation.
• Server Minimum Hardware and Memory Requirements
  Each system must meet certain minimum hardware and memory requirements.
• Server Minimum Storage Requirements
  Each system must meet certain minimum storage requirements.
• Disk Format Requirements
  Oracle recommends that you install Oracle software, or binaries, on New Technology File System (NTFS) formatted drives or partitions.
• Configuring Time Synchronization for the Cluster
  Oracle Clusterware requires the same time zone setting on all cluster nodes.
