Client and Server Support
To use ezTLS, both your database client and server must support the feature for your specific connection type. In addition to upgrading your database server, ensure that your client drivers also meet the minimum version requirements.
The following table lists client versions for ezTLS.
| Client driver | Version |
|---|---|
| JDBC | 23.26.4 |
| python-oracledb (Thin mode) | 26.1.0 |
| OCI-C-based drivers | 19.33 and 23.26.4 |
When planning your deployment or upgrade, follow these guidelines:
- Verify protocol compatibility: Confirm that both your client driver and the target database server release support ezTLS over your requested connection type (TCP, TCPS, or both).
- Test your entire stack: Validate ezTLS across every client driver and platform used by your applications, administration tools, connection pools, and integration services.
- Manage TCP rolling upgrades: For standard TCP connections, if older clients or servers must remain active during your transition, ensure you retain a compatible legacy encryption algorithm.
- Validate TCPS behavior: For TCPS connections, verify that both peers support the requested ezTLS configuration; an incompatible peer may reject the connection outright.
