Operating System Checklist for Oracle AI Database Installation on Linux

Use this checklist to check minimum operating system requirements for Oracle AI Database.

Note:

Oracle AI Database 26ai is currently not supported on non-Oracle hardware. For support, availability, and database offerings, see the Oracle AI Database Licensing Information User Manual and My Oracle Support Note 742060.1.

Operating system general requirements	OpenSSH installed manually, if you do not have it installed already as part of a default Linux installation. A Linux kernel in the list of supported kernels and releases listed in this guide.

Linux for Arm (aarch64) operating system requirements	Starting with Oracle AI Database 26ai Release Update 23.7, the Linux for Arm (aarch64) operating system is supported with the following minimum supported version: Oracle Linux 8.6 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 7: 5.15.0-205.149.5.1.el8uek.aarch64 Note: Oracle recommends that you update Oracle Linux 8 to the latest available release level.
Oracle AI Database Preinstallation RPM for Oracle Linux	If you use Oracle Linux, then Oracle recommends that you run the Oracle AI Database Preinstallation RPM for your Linux release to configure your operating system for Oracle AI Database and Oracle Grid Infrastructure installations.
KVM and Virtualization Technologies	For information about supported virtualization technologies for Oracle AI Database such as KVM, refer to the virtualization matrix: https://www.oracle.com/database/technologies/virtualization-matrix.html
Set Transparent HugePages to madvise	For optimal performance, Oracle recommends that you set Transparent HugePages to madvise on all Oracle AI Database servers UEK7 and later kernels and not disable Transparent HugePages as was recommended in prior releases. If you install Oracle AI Database Preinstallation RPM, then it sets Transparent HugePages to madvise on all Oracle AI Database servers UEK7 and later kernels.
