2.4 Starting Up and Shutting Down a Database
Starting up and shutting down a database requires DBA privileges.
STARTUP db_options | cdb_options | upgrade_options
where db options
has the following syntax:
[FORCE] [RESTRICT] [PFILE=filename] [QUIET] [ MOUNT [dbname] | [ OPEN [open_db_options] [dbname] ] | NOMOUNT ]
where open_db_options
has the following syntax:
READ {ONLY | WRITE [RECOVER]} | RECOVER
where cdb_options
has the following syntax:
root_connection_options | pdb_connection_options
where root_connection_options

Shuts down a currently running Oracle instance, optionally closing and dismounting a database.
