2 Using the Blockchain App Builder Extension for Visual Studio Code

The Blockchain App Builder extension for Visual Studio Code helps you build and generate a fully-functional Solidity-based project from a minimal configuration.

The generated project is based on Hardhat 2. After you build a project you can run and test it on a local Besu network or your provisioned Oracle Blockchain Platform network. You can then debug the smart contract or write and run unit tests using the generated code.

Table 2-1 Workflow When Using the Visual Studio Code Extension

Task Description More Information
Install and configure Download the Blockchain App Builder Visual Studio Code extension from your Oracle Blockchain Platform console and install it and any prerequisite software. Install and Configure the Blockchain App Builder Extension for Visual Studio Code
Create and compose the Oracle Blockchain Platform digital assets project Select the token type, token standard, token behaviors, and composition mode to generate a Solidity project. Create and Compose a Digital Assets Project
Compile the smart contract Compile the contract to generate the bytecode and ABI, which are required to deploy and run the contract. Compile a Contract
Deploy the smart contract Deploy the digital assets project locally to the included preconfigured Besu network, local evm node, or remotely to Oracle Blockchain Platform Enterprise Edition for Besu. Deploy a Contract
Test the smart contract Test any of the generated methods after your smart contract is running on a network. Run a Contract
Debug the smart contract Debug the smart contract by using a simulated development network in Hardhat. Debug a Contract
Upload the contract manifest to the registry Upload the generated Besu contract manifests to the Oracle Blockchain Platform registry service to capture the ABI, bytecode, and storage layouts. Upload a Contract Manifest to the Registry
Generate a wrapper API specification and Postman collection Generate the wrapper API specification and a Postman collection that contains API endpoints for each contract method. Generate a Wrapper API Specification and Postman Collection
Generate an RPC proxy API Postman collection Generate a Postman collection for the RPC proxy calls. Generate an RPC Proxy Postman Collection
