Connect AI assistants with MCP Server
Use the Essbase MCP Server when you want an external AI assistant or other MCP-compatible client to interact with Essbase.
Essbase includes a built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Through MCP tools, an AI client can perform supported Essbase operations such as:
- Query cube data.
- Run calculations.
- Load data.
- Inspect applications, cubes, and outlines.
- Perform supported administrative operations.
The MCP server is built on the Essbase REST API and uses Essbase authentication.
MCP access profiles help limit which tools a client can use. Choose an access level appropriate to the workflow, and continue to rely on Essbase permissions to control what the authenticated user is actually authorized to do.
MCP Server is appropriate when AI needs to become part of a broader application or administrative workflow rather than being used only inside the Essbase web interface.
