Consider the size and number of your dimensions

Dimension volume is part of the "ASO or BSO" decision process when planning an Essbase cube.

If your model contains many dimensions, or some dimensions contain very large numbers of members, ASO can be a good fit. Aggregate storage is designed for large, sparsely populated multidimensional models and large-scale aggregation.

BSO can also support large dimensional models, and the BSO option available in Essbase on Autonomous AI Lakehouse combines block storage capabilities with aggregate-storage-style query performance. Therefore, dimension count alone should not determine your choice.

Instead, consider dimension size together with the other requirements of your application.
