Understand and Create Alias Tables

Aliases are stored in one or more tables as part of an Essbase database outline. An alias table maps a specific, named set of alias names to member names.

To create an alias table using the Essbase web interface,

  1. On the Home page, navigate to the application, and select the Actions menu Image of the Actions menu icon on the Applications page next to the application name..
  2. Choose Databases > Database Name > Launch Outline.
  3. If the outline is locked, and you are an administrator, click Unlock Image of the Unlock outline icon..

    Before you forcefully unlock a locked outline, make sure that no one else is working with it.

  4. Click Edit Image of the edit outline icon in the outline editor..
  5. Click Outline properties Image of the outline properties icon in the redwood outline editor..
  6. Click the Aliases tab.
  7. Enter the name of the alias table you want to create and click Add.

    You can have a maximum of 56 alias tables.

  8. Click Apply and Close.

You cannot delete or rename the default alias table.
