1 Licensing Information

• The Oracle Exadata System Software license includes the use of Exadata Hybrid Columnar Compression along with other features documented in Oracle Exadata System Software User's Guide.

• Oracle Database and options are licensed separately. Refer to Oracle Database Licensing Information User Manual for additional information.

• Oracle Database In-Memory Option must be licensed to enable the following Exadata features: .

  • In-Memory Columnar Caching on Storage Servers

  • In-Memory Columnar Speed JSON Query

  • Transparent Cross-Tier Scan

• Oracle Exadata Storage Server Extended (XT) may be used for archival storage purposes without licensing Oracle Exadata System Software. When using XT storage without Oracle Exadata System Software:

  • Exadata Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC) is enabled.

  • Other smart storage features, such as Exadata Smart Scan, are disabled.

  Optionally, you can procure Oracle Exadata System Software licenses and enable Exadata smart storage features on XT servers. See also Enabling Smart Scan on Exadata Extended (XT) Storage Servers.
