1.9 Overview of the dbmsrv Service

Oracle Exadata database servers run dbmsrv (Database Machine Service), which is based on the Management Server (MS) that runs on Exadata storage servers. It provides enhanced management capabilities for Exadata database servers, including bare-metal database servers, virtual machine hosts, and guests.

To manage dbmsrv, Oracle Exadata database server system images include the following users and groups.

The users and their UIDs are:

• dbmsvc: 12137
• dbmadmin: 12138
• dbmmonitor: 12139

The groups and their GIDs are:

• dbmsvc: 11137
• dbmadmin: 11138
• dbmmonitor: 11139
• dbmusers: 11140

  Prior to Oracle Exadata System Software releases 18.1.12 and 19.1.2 when the migrate_ids.sh script was introduced, you can manually change the user and group IDs associated with the dbmsrv service users.
