8.1.1 About Updating to Oracle Linux 8 on Exadata Servers

Starting with Oracle Exadata System Software release 23.1.0, the bundled Linux operating system is Oracle Linux 8.

When you update to Oracle Exadata System Software release 23.1.0 or later, Exadata servers are updated to Oracle Linux 8. This update is required to support Oracle Database 23ai, which requires Oracle Linux 8.

Oracle Exadata System Software release 23.1.0 also includes Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) 6, which is the minimum UEK version required to support the AMD processor architecture introduced with Oracle Exadata X10M systems.
