2.1.11 Elastic Rack Configurations in OEDA

Oracle Exadata System Software release 25.2.0 introduces enhancements to Oracle Exadata Deployment Assistant (OEDA), supporting the configuration and deployment of fully elastic racks. With the release, the OEDA Web user interface continues to support all factory-shipped Exadata configurations, along with elastic rack configurations mixing valid combinations of storage and compute servers spanning different hardware models.

Elastic rack configuration drastically improves flexibility, enabling:

  • Easy consolidation of hardware spanning multiple generations in a rack to save data center space.

  • Flexible reuse and re-racking of existing Exadata hardware to prolong its usefulness.

  • Flexible server placement in each rack to maximize rack density.

  • Complex network configurations with a mixture of network speeds and interfaces.

  • Complex storage configurations supporting multiple ASM disk groups and Exascale storage pools across a mixture of storage media types (High Capacity [HC], Extreme Flash [EF], and Extended [XT]) and storage server models (X11M, X10M, and so on).

  • Faster deployment and better life-cycle management for all deployments.
