10.4.6 Exadata Cell Connection Limit

Oracle Database, Oracle ASM, Oracle Clusterware and Oracle utilities perform I/O operations on Exadata Cells. In order for a process to perform I/O operations on Exadata Cell, the process must first establish a connection to the cell. Once a process is connected to Exadata Cell, it remains connected until process termination.

With this release, each Exadata Cell can support up to 60,000 simultaneous connections originating from one or more database servers. This implies that no more than 60,000 processes can simultaneously remain connected to a cell and perform I/O operations. The limit was 32,000 connections in release 112.2.4. Prior to release 11.2.2.4, the limit was 20,000 connections.
