7.2.2 Exadata Extended (XT) Storage Server

A new storage configuration is available starting with Oracle Exadata X8-2. The XT model does not have Flash drives, only 14 TB hard drives with HCC compression. This is a lower cost storage option, with only one CPU, less memory, and with SQL Offload capability turned off by default. If used without the SQL Offload feature, then you are not required to purchase the Oracle Exadata System Software license for the servers.

If you purchase the Oracle Exadata System Software license for the servers and want to enable the SQL Offload capability for the XT storage servers, then you can use this CellCLI command on each XT storage server to dynamically enable the SQL Offload feature:

$ cellcli -e 'ALTER CELL enableSmartStorage=true' 

Minimum requirements:
