In the graphic, there are two database servers and on storage cell. One database server is running two instances of Oracle Database. One instance is running Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1), and the other instance is running 11g Release 2 (11.2). The other database server is running one instance which is running 12c Release 1 (12.1). The storage cell has the processes MS, RS, CELLSRV, CELLOFLSRV 12.1.x and CELLOFLSRV 11.2.x. Both database servers connect to CELLSRV. The CELLSRV process has the offload servers handle the requests for the appropriate database release.
