10.3.5 Oracle Database File System Support for Oracle Solaris

Oracle Database File System (DBFS) manages unstructured data in an Oracle database. Files in DBFS are stored in the database in SecureFiles and inherit all of its performance, scalability, security, availability and rich functionality benefits, such as compression, deduplication, encryption, text search, and XQuery.

In earlier releases, DBFS was only available for Oracle Exadata Database Machine running Linux. With this release, DBFS is also supported on Oracle Exadata Database Machine running Oracle Solaris.
