20.1 Rack Layout Diagrams

The diagrams in this topic show the rack layout for Oracle Exadata Database Machine X2-2 and Oracle Exadata Database Machine X2-8 Full Rack.

Note:

For ease of reading, the name "Oracle Exadata Rack" is used when information refers to both Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exadata Storage Expansion Rack.

The following abbreviations are used in the tables:

Abbreviation Description

Rn

Rack n, where n is the number of the rack, such as R1.

Un

Unit height in rack, where n is the number, such as U20.

Pn

InfiniBand port n, where n is port number, such as P8A.

The cables used in Oracle Exadata Database Machine are color-coded as follows:

  • Black: InfiniBand cables, or AC power jumper cables
  • Red: Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) cables
  • Blue: Gigabit Ethernet cables
  • Orange: KVM switch cables (not used in Oracle Exadata Database Machine X2-8 Full Rack)
