Exadata Storage Server X11M Extended (XT) is the first XT storage server available with Oracle Exadata Exascale, enabling many users and database clusters to share a large pool of cost-effective online storage for less frequently accessed data, with strict security and data isolation.
You can add two or more XT storage servers to existing EF or HC storage servers to store less frequently accessed data that must be kept online. (The diagram shows two XT storage servers and three EF storage Servers.)
Each XT storage server runs the same Oracle Exadata System Software as HC and EF storage servers. For data storage purposes, XT storage servers do not require licenses for Exadata System Software.
To maximize storage capacity, you may use Exadata Hybrid Columnar Compression in conjunction with XT storage. Also, you can optionally license Oracle Exadata System Software on XT storage to utilize smart storage capabilities such as Exadata Smart Scan.
For seamless expansion of existing implementations, you can add Exadata X11M XT storage to systems with previous-generation XT storage servers.
Each Exadata X11M XT storage server comes equipped with:
1 x AMD EPYC 32-core CPU, which is up to 11% faster than the CPUs in previous generation XT storage servers.
2 x 6.8 TB performance-optimized flash devices, making it the first XT storage server with Exadata Smart Flash Cache.
12 x 22 TB hard disk drives (HDDs), providing 264 TB of raw disk capacity on each Exadata X11M XT server.
