Data Preserving Reprovisioning: Backups

Understand FAQs about backups during the Data Preserving Reprovisioning process.

Some database backup reports that were present before the reimage step are missing. Is this expected?

Yes, after restoring the node, the obsolete backup reports corresponding to Regular backups and Longterm backups are deleted. Hence some backup reports would not be present after restoring the databases. Look for the following log entries in the /opt/oracle/dcs/log/dcs-agent.log file which specifies the actual number of Regular and Longterm Backup reports that were deleted.
c.o.d.a.r.s.b.DbBkupOperations: Number of long term backup reports deleted:
c.o.d.a.r.s.b.DbBkupOperations: Number of regular backup reports deleted:

Are TDE backup reports also deleted similar to the database backup reports?

No, TDE backup reports are not deleted. For each database, there is only one TDE backup report corresponding to each backup destination where the backup was taken, for example, if a TDE-enabled database backup was taken on NFS and Object Store backup destination, then there is one TDE backup report corresponding to NFS destination and one TDE backup report corresponding to Object Store destination.

After restoring the node, will I see the backup configurations with TDE backup location restored?

Yes, backup configurations with TDE backup location are restored to the same state as before the node restore process.
