Can I manually change Oracle Linux, and database setting parameters on an Oracle Database Appliance?
Oracle Database Appliance is designed to be configured and operated using ODACLI commands or Browser User Interface (BUI) tools rather than by manually setting parameters. If you do not use Oracle Database Appliance tools, and instead you manually configure and change setting parameters on your appliance and encounter issues, Oracle Support then requires you to switch to a standard configuration generated by Oracle Database Appliance tools and confirm whether the issue still persists.
Can I install additional applications, agents, and RPMs on Oracle Database Appliance?
Yes you can, as long as the application, or agent, or RPM does not interfere with Oracle Database Appliance RPMs. Oracle recommends using dnf or yum to install custom RPMs. Oracle Database Appliance RPMs are protected by version lock. You can run theyum versionlock list
command to see the list of the protected RPMs. Ensure that you validate the requirements of
your new software against the version locked packages on Oracle Database Appliance before you
start the installation process.
