Deploying Oracle Database Appliance X8-2S and X8-2M

This document is the alternate text description for the Oracle Database Appliance X8-2S and X8-2M poster that describes how to deploy the appliance.

Oracle Database Appliance X8-2S and X8-2M Setup

This is the alternate text that describes page one of the Oracle Database Appliance X8-2S and X8-2M poster.

Page one of the poster describes the setup for Oracle Database Appliance X8-2S and X8-2M.

Step 1 Connect the Power and Network Cables

This step includes a graphic illustration of the appliance. The image has three callouts (1, 2, and 3). In this alternate text description, the ports associated with the callouts and descriptions are listed here.

Callout numbers and description:

  • Callout 1: Two power connections for the power supply units (PSU)

  • Callout 2: Ethernet port to network management for Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (Oracle ILOM)

  • Callout 3: Two network cards that may vary from Oracle Dual Port 25Gb Ethernet Adapter or Oracle Quad Port 10GBase-T Adapter depending on the option ordered

In this step, the poster lists steps using alphabetic labels (A, B, C). This alternate description uses numerals. Step A is 1, step B is 2, and step C is 3.

Important: Follow the instructions on Page 1 to cable the server nodes, storage systems and interconnect before proceeding. On both nodes, connect:

  1. Plug in AC power to the two power supplies (1). For redundancy, ensure that each component has one of its two power supply connected to a separate AC power source. Callout 1 indicates the location of the power.

  2. Plug in the network cable for Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (Oracle ILOM) network management port. Callout 2 indicates the location of the Ethernet port.

  3. (Optional) On Node 0 only, connect peripheral to USB. Callout 3 indicates the location of the USB port on Node 0.

  4. Plug in network cables to the public network ports. (Port connections can vary depending on the option ordered). Callout 4 indicates the location of the public network ports.

Step 2 Start Up the System

In this step, the poster lists start up system steps using alphabetic labels (A, B, and C). This alternate description uses numerals. Step A is 1, Step B is 2, and step C is 3.

This step includes a graphic illustration of a portion of the appliance with three callouts (4, 5, and 6). In this alternate text description, the button or LED associated with the callouts and descriptions are listed here.

Callout numbers and description:

  • Callout 4: SP OK LED light.

  • Callout 6: Power button.

  • Callout 5: Power OK LED light.

Connect power to the power supply.

  1. Confirm that the green SP OK LED (4) is steady ON and the green Power OK LED (5) flashes slowly. This indicates that the server is in Standby power mode.

  2. Push the power button (6). This applies full power to the server.
  3. Wait for the green Power OK LED (5) to turn steady ON. The Power OK LED may blink for several minutes. Do not repeatedly push the power buttons.

Step 3 Deploy and Configure the Appliance

This step contains links to the Oracle database Appliance documentation library so that you can deploy and configure your appliance. Refer to the Oracle Database Appliance Deployment and User’s Guide for information about configuring and deploying the appliance. Server Back Panel Components, Connectors, and Indicators

This is the alternate text that describes the back panel components, connectors, and indicators on page 1 of the poster for X8-2S and X8-2M.

Page one of the poster also contains a section that describes the back panel components, connectors, and indicators for X8-2S and X8-2M. This section is on the right side of the page, and includes a graphic illustration of the appliance, with color-coded callouts to describe the back panel components, connectors, and indicators.

The illustration shows the back of the server. The image has 20 callouts. The callouts define the conenctors and indicators for Oracle Database Appliance X8-2S and X8-2M. Beneath the image is a table that defines the components, connectors, and indicators associated with the callouts and their descriptions. In this alternate text description, the first column of the table describes the callout and the second column describes the component, connector, or indicator identified by the callout.
