10 Discovering an Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance

This section describes various discovery flows that are supported in Enterprise Manager 13c.

Comparison between the two methods for discovery:

EMCLI	Console
The Recovery Appliance discovery using EMCLI helps to automate the discovery process through scripts where several Recovery Appliances must be discovered offline or in background. It is accessible through classic programming language constructs, enabling tasks to be created and run either from the command-line or programatically. EMCLI enables you to access Enterprise Manager functionality from text-based consoles (shells and command-line windows) for a variety of operating systems. EMCLI is fully integrated with Enterprise Manager's security and user administration functions, enabling you to carry out operations using EM CLI with the same security and confidentiality as the Enterprise Manager console. For example, you can only see and operate on targets for which you are authorized.	Use the Console for an interactive experience of the discovery. The entire discovery process is packaged together and is available in the Enterprise Manager console. The discovery process is self-intuitive. You must only make sure to have the required information available to enter in the dialog boxes. This method is best suited for one-time set up.
