Changes in Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance Administrator’s Guide Release 23.1

The following are features in RA 23.1.

• Convert existing Oracle Secure Backup tape configurations to equivalent cloud configurations using the racli convert tape_to_cloud command. See Converting a Tape Configuration to Cloud for details.

• Space-efficient, encrypted backups

  • Compressed and encrypted backups, while supporting the incremental forever strategy. For more information, see Configuring Space-Efficient, Encrypted Backups and Configuring Space-Efficient, Encrypted Backups

  • Auto-tune reserved space for compliance backups

  • Standby database registration to Recovery Appliance Catalog

• Replication and Migration

  • Database-level backup migration across Recovery Appliances

  • Archived backups synchronized across replication pairs

  • Replication setup and configuration automation

  • Configuring Virtual Air Gap. Establishes Recovery Appliance replication with a time-controlled limited network access, such as a data vault scenario.

  • Migrating Backups with RACLI. Simplifies the migration from a source Recovery Appliance and a destination Recovery Appliance. All backups on the source are migrated to the destination Recovery Appliance, preserving the backup history.

• Updating the Recovery Appliance Software

  • zdlra update has been improved with new RACLI operations.

  • racli alter appliance runs out-of-place patching steps that do not require the appliance to be offline.

  • racli update appliance calls racli alter appliance and remembers where it was interrupted in the upgrade process so that it can be resumed at that point when called again.

The following are changes in Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance Administrator’s Guide for ZDLRA release 23.1.

• TLS Overview and Configuration chapter has improved instructions on various ways to create the trusted and signed certificates and to enable TLS network encryption.

• Replicating Backups with Recovery Appliance chapter has new instructions for using RACLI for replication management, and for configuring TLS and replication.

Migrating Backups with RACLI chapter is new. For decommissioning purposes, this chapterr describes how to migrate all of the backup data from an one Recovery Appliance to different Recovery Appliance.

• Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control supports:.

  • Managing Recovery Window Compliance

  • Managing Compliance Holds: This software release addresses US government regulation SEC 17a-4(f) regarding recovery window compliance and “legal holds”. It provides enhanced APIs and protection policy attributes to allow this.

  • Archival Backups: Long-term archival backups: the ability for Recovery Appliance to send a backup of a single point in time, SCN, or tag to tertiary storage such as tape or cloud.

• Accessing Recovery Appliance Reports: This describes how to access the pre-created Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Publisher reports specific to the Recovery Appliance that now reside in Oracle Analytics Publisher and are consolidated with other analytic reports.
