9 Oracle VM Server
For information about managing Oracle VM servers, see the Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Administration Guide.
Oracle VM Server Disk Activity (kb/s)
This metric is used to “bulk" collect all disk activity-related metrics for all the Oracle VM Server targets in the Oracle VM server pool. This metric is not uploaded, but is used for alerts only. You can set separate thresholds for each Oracle VM Server using the Target ID. Different thresholds can be set for different Oracle VM Servers based on the Target ID. Only the collection schedule remains same for all the servers.
Thresholds should be defined against this metric, and the threshold values are applicable to all the Oracle VM Server targets in the server pool.
The collection schedule is governed by the schedule of the Oracle VM Server Disk Activity Scheduled metric. Any alerts generated are generated against the relevant Oracle VM Server target.
Read Throughput (kb/s)
This metric displays the read throughput of the disk in kb/s. If unusually high values are observed, then check for crashing applications. If high values are expected, consider using high speed storage for better performance.
Total Throughput (kb/s)
This metric displays the total throughput of the disk in kb/s. If unusually high values are observed, then check for crashing applications. If high values are expected, consider using high speed storage for better performance.
Oracle VM Server Disk Activity Scheduled
This metric is used to “bulk" collect all disk activity-related metrics for all the Oracle VM Server targets in the Oracle VM server pool. Any collection schedule changes should be made to this metric, and such changes affect the collection of this metric for all Oracle VM Server targets in the pool. This metric is not uploaded, but collects data for the corresponding alert-only and upload-only metrics.

This metric displays the read throughput of the disk in kb/s. If unusually high values are observed, then check for crashing applications. If high values are expected, consider using high speed storage for better performance.
Total Throughput
This metric displays the total throughput of the disk in kb/s. If unusually high values are observed, then check for crashing applications. If high values are expected, consider using high speed storage for better performance.
Oracle VM Server Disk Activity Summary
This metric is used to “bulk" collect all disk activity-related metrics for all the Oracle VM Server targets in the Oracle VM server pool. This is a summary metric which computes values across all the guests in the pool and uploads them. The collection schedule is governed by the schedule of the Oracle VM Server Disk Activity Scheduled metric.
Highest Read Throughput (kb/s)
This metric displays the maximum read throughput observed across the disks in the Oracle VM Guest target. You can use this metric to decide on thresholds of the Oracle VM Server Disk Activity metric.
Highest Total Throughput (kb/s)
This metric displays the maximum total throughput observed across the disks in the Oracle VM Guest target. You can use this metric to decide on thresholds of the Oracle VM Server Disk Activity metric.
Highest Write Throughput (kb/s)
This metric displays the maximum write throughput observed across the disks in the Oracle VM Guest target. You can use this metric to decide on thresholds of the Oracle VM Server Disk Activity metric.
Oracle VM Server Filesystems
This metric category is used to “bulk" collect all file system-related metrics for all the Oracle VM Server targets in the Oracle VM server pool. This metric is not uploaded, but is used for alerts only. Thresholds should be defined against this metric, and the threshold values are applicable to all the Oracle VM Server targets in the server pool.
The collection schedule is governed by the schedule of the Oracle VM Server Filesystems Scheduled metric. Any alerts generated are generated against the relevant Oracle VM Server target.
Free Space (MB)
This metric displays the free space on the disk in MB. You can configure this metric so that if free space falls below a certain value, an alert is raised. If an alert is raised, then consider freeing up space on the disk, or adding additional storage.
Oracle VM Server Filesystems Scheduled
This metric category is used to “bulk" collect all file system-related metrics for all the Oracle VM Server targets in the Oracle VM server pool. Any collection schedule changes should be made to this metric, and such changes affect the collection of this metric for all Oracle VM Server targets in the pool. This metric is not uploaded, but collects data for the corresponding alert-only and upload-only metrics.
Oracle VM Server Filesystems Summary
This metric is used to “bulk" collect all file system-related metrics for all the Oracle VM Server targets in the Oracle VM server pool. This is a summary metric which computes values across all the servers in the pool and uploads them. The collection schedule is governed by the schedule of the Oracle VM Server Filesystems Scheduled metric.
Total Space Used (%)
This metric displays the total used file system space (%). Use this metric to render graphs on the target home page.
Oracle VM Server Load
This metric category is used to “bulk" collect all load-related metrics for all the Oracle VM Server targets in the Oracle VM server pool. Any collection schedule changes should be made to this metric, and such changes affect the collection of this metric for all Oracle VM Server targets in the pool.
Note:
The collection schedule for Oracle VM Server Load metrics must be greater than the Oracle VM Manager statistics collection interval.
Oracle recommends setting the Oracle VM Server Load collection schedule to five times greater than the Oracle VM Manager statistics collection interval.
For example, if Oracle VM Manager statistics collection interval is defined at 100 seconds, then set the Oracle VM Server Load collection schedule to 500 seconds at a minimum.
For information about the Oracle VM Manager statistics collection interval, see Oracle VM User's Guide for Release 3.2.1.
CPU Utilization (%)
The metric displays the physical CPU utilization of the Oracle VM Server target.
Memory Available (MB)
This metric displays the amount of memory available (MB) to the Oracle VM Server target.
Number of Oracle VM Guests
This metric displays the number of Oracle VM Guest targets running on the Oracle VM Server target.
Physical Memory Utilization (%)
This metric displays the memory used (%). If the value is consistently very high, then consider adding additional memory or reducing the load on the Oracle VM Server.
Oracle VM Server Network Activity
This metric category is used to “bulk" collect all network activity-related metrics for all the Oracle VM Server targets in the Oracle VM server pool. This metric is not uploaded, but is used for alerts only. Thresholds should be defined against this metric, and the threshold values are applicable to all the Oracle VM Server targets in the server pool.
The collection schedule is governed by the schedule of the Oracle VM Server Network Activity Scheduled metric. Any alerts generated are generated against the relevant Oracle VM Server target.
Read Throughput (kb/s)
This metric displays the read throughput on the interface in kb/s. If high values are expected, then consider using high speed network or adding additional network interfaces via bonding for better performance.
