Clone a PDB

Enterprise Manager has the ability to clone PDBs, follow these steps:

Clone PDB Prerequisites

  • When cloning a PDB from one CDB to another CDB make sure both the source and target CDB have the same database domain name.

    Note:

    This is not required if cloning on the same CDB.
  • When cloning a PDB from one CDB to another CDB inside Exadata Cloud, make sure that both source and target CDB have the same database domain and the global names have the correct domain suffix.

Steps to Clone a PDB

  1. From the Targets menu, select Databases.
  2. For View, select Search List. From the View menu, select Expand All.
  3. Look for the source CDB in the list, and right-click the name of the PDB that you want to clone and select Oracle Database .
  4. From the Oracle Database menu, select Cloning and then Create Full Clone.
  5. On the Create Full Clone Pluggable Database page specify the following:
    • SYSDBA credentials
    • Name and display name for the PDB Clone
    • Select Administrator and Host credentials (For Exadata Cloud RAC use the OPC user for Normal Host credentials).
    • Select the Refreshable clone check box to create a manually Refreshable PDB.
    • Enter the destination CDB TDE wallet password.
  6. If you want to clone a PDB to a different CDB click the Destination CDB check box and select the destination CDB. Enter the PDB Admin user name and password for the cloned PDB.
  7. Specify additional configuration details like mask data, as well as schedule the cloning process, by selecting the Advanced option.
  8. Click Clone.
