File I/O Statistics

The metrics in this category report I/O activity for each individual database file, measured as deltas since the previous collection.

Table 2-40 File I/O Statistics Metrics

Metric	Description
Database Name (key column)	Name of the database to which the file belongs.
Logical File Name (key column)	Logical name of the database file.
File Type	Type of the file (for example, ROWS for data or LOG for the transaction log).
Physical File Name	Operating-system path of the physical file.
Read Operations	Number of read operations issued against the file since the previous collection.
Write Operations	Number of write operations issued against the file since the previous collection.
Bytes Read	Number of bytes read from the file since the previous collection.
Bytes Written	Number of bytes written to the file since the previous collection.
Read Stall (ms)	Total time, in milliseconds, that processes waited for reads from the file since the previous collection.
Write Stall (ms)	Total time, in milliseconds, that processes waited for writes to the file since the previous collection.
