Feature Updates

• Aspen Service Mesh (ASM) for External Communication:

  Added the Migrating cnDBTier to Use ASM for External Communication section to explain how cnDBTier enables secure external communication through ASM by injecting Istio sidecars for the required pods.

Feature Updates

• New Features:
  • Parallel Restart of cnDBTier Pods

    Added the Performing a Parallel Restart of cnDBTier Pods section that explains how pods can be created, deleted, and updated simultaneously.

• Enhancements:
  • Updates to Changing the TLS Certificates

    Updated the following sections to correct the commands used to modify the TLS Certificates:

    • Modifying cnDBTier certificates for encrypted connection of replication using TLS
    • Modifying cnDBTier certificates for encrypted connection to APP SQL pod using TLS
  • Updates to Scaling Procedures
    • Added the Horizontal Scaling of ndbmtd pods using dbtscale_ndbmtd_pods section on automated horizontal scaling for cnDBTier clusters, to scale up NDB data pods and expand cluster capacity.
    • Updated the Horizontal Scaling section with the procedure to prevent cluster disconnects observed during scaling.
    • Updated the Vertical Scaling section with a step to reorganize the partitions of the tables in the cluster if the NoOfFragmentLogParts is changed during vertical scaling.
  • Updates to Addition of Georedundant Site
    • Added the Addition of cnDBTier Georedundant Mate Site section, including required parameter updates and scaling steps.
  • Updates to Removal of Georedundant Site
    • Added the Site Removal Constraints and Limitations section, including constraints and limitations of removing a site.
  • Updates to cnDBTier Replication Skip Errors
    • Added the cnDBTier Replication Skip Errors section, including parameters to configure the replication skip errors.

The following metrics are added in the cnDBTier Metrics section:

• Added the following cnDBTier Client SQL TPS metric in the DBTier Client SQL TPS metrics section that provides information on db client sql tps:
  • db_tier_client_sql_tps
• Added the following cnDBTier Binlog Compression metrics in the DBTier Binlog Compression metrics section that provides information on how the database binary logs are being compressed:
  • db_tier_binlog_compression_factor
  • db_tier_binlog_uncompressed_bytes
  • db_tier_binlog_compressed_bytes

• The following metrics were removed in this release:
  • db_tier_aborts
  • db_tier_transporter_overload
  • db_tier_scan_slowdown
  • db_tier_cpu_os_user
  • db_tier_cpu_os_system
