Prerequisites for ECP Data Bridge
Review the Cloud Connector, network, source, account, and OCI Object Storage requirements before setting up ECP Data Bridge.
Before setting up ECP Data Bridge, ensure that the target environment and the required connection information are available.
Cloud Connector and ECP access
Ensure that:
-
The target Cloud Connector is onboarded and appears in Inventory.
-
You have permission to manage applications on the Cloud Connector.
-
You can update the Cloud Connector firewall configuration.
-
You can update the runtime configuration for an installed application.
-
The required ECP Data Bridge version is available from Manage Applications.
Network requirements
The Cloud Connector must be able to communicate with the source server over the local network.
Configure the source server with a static IP address or maintain a static IP mapping for it. ECP Data Bridge uses the configured IP address when connecting to the source.
Open the network access required for:
Reference information
| Connection | Requirement |
|---|---|
|
SMB access |
Allow connections to the Cloud Connector on port 445. |
|
ECP Data Bridge local UI |
Allow HTTPS connections to the local UI. |
|
Source connection |
Allow the Cloud Connector to connect to the configured source IP address and port. |
Source connection information
Obtain the following information for each source that you plan to configure:
Reference information
| Information | Description |
|---|---|
|
Source name |
A unique name used to identify the source in ECP Data Bridge. |
|
Protocol |
The protocol used by the source: FTP or SFTP. |
|
IP address |
The static IP address of the source server. |
|
Port |
The port used to connect to the source. |
|
Username |
The username used to access the source server. |
|
Password |
The password used to access the source server. |
|
Source folder |
The folder from which ECP Data Bridge downloads files. |
|
Fingerprint |
For an SFTP source, the server fingerprint used to validate the connection. |
The source server does not need to be available when the source entry is created. You can save the connection information and test the connection when the source server becomes available.
OCI Object Storage requirements
Before configuring OCI Object Storage, ensure that the following resources and information are available:
Reference information
| Requirement | Description |
|---|---|
|
OCI user |
The OCI user that ECP Data Bridge uses for Object Storage authentication. |
|
User OCID |
The OCID of the OCI user. |
|
Tenancy OCID |
The OCID of the tenancy that contains the target bucket. |
|
Region |
The OCI region identifier for the target bucket. |
|
Bucket |
The name of the target OCI Object Storage bucket. |
|
IAM policy |
A policy that grants the OCI user only the permissions required to access the target bucket and upload objects. |
The target bucket and OCI user must exist before the Object Storage destination is configured.
After installing and starting ECP Data Bridge, obtain the public key generated by the application and register it with the OCI user.
Local UI and SMB access
Use an ECP Data Bridge account to sign in to the local UI and connect to the SMB share. Configure the account in the application runtime configuration.
To access the SMB share, use a supported Windows or macOS system that can connect to the Cloud Connector over the local network. SMB mapping supports the Cloud Connector hostname and, where required, its IP address.
