This document provides information about Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution Release (MSS) 8.0.

This document consists of the following sections:

Software Compatibility

See "MetaSolv Solution Compatibility Matrix" for a full list of software requirements.

New Features

This section describes the new features introduced in this release.

Automated Installation of MSS Client Using PowerClient

The PowerClient feature streamlines the deployment and updating process for the MSS application by delivering automated installation and updates directly to client machines. Using PowerClient, Oracle has packaged and published the MSS application to a web server. The MSS administrator can then download a new release and upload it to the web server. PowerClient automatically manages updates to client machines whenever a new version is uploaded to the web server. This enhancement simplifies initial client setup and ensures that you always have the latest version, reducing manual intervention and improving overall application reliability. See "Installing the Client Using PowerClient" in Installation Guide for more information.

Upgraded Technology Support

This release includes enhanced support for the latest technology platforms and software versions. For detailed information on supported databases, operating systems, and other components, see MetaSolv Solution Compatibility Matrix.

TBS Renamed to MSS

The MSS application has been updated to replace all instances of TBS with MSS in key deliverables. The following deliverables have been renamed:

Old Name New Name
tbs.exe mss.exe
tbs_util.exe mss_util.exe
tbs.ini mss.ini
tbs_util.ini mss_util.ini
TBSGraphicLoad.exe MSSGraphicLoad.exe

All relevant documentation (including the Installation Guide, Security Guide, and System Administrator's Guide) has been updated to reflect these changes.
