This document provides release notes for Oracle Communications Order and Service Management (OSM) release 8.0.
New Features (Cloud Native and Traditional Deployments)
This release includes the following new features and enhancements that apply to both cloud native and traditional deployments of OSM release 8.0:
- Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure 14.1.2 Certification
- Oracle Java SE 21 Certification
- Oracle Database 23ai Certification
For new features and enhancements in OSM cloud native, see "New Features in OSM Cloud Native".
Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure 14.1.2 Certification
Starting in 8.0, OSM is now certified with Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure 14.1.2.
Oracle Java SE 21 Certification
Starting in 8.0, OSM is now certified with Oracle Java SE 21. This necessitated an upgrade of OSM's XQuery and XSLT processor, Saxon. This can impact your cartridges, requiring cartridge changes. For more information, see the OSM Compatibility Matrix.
Oracle Database 23ai Certification
Starting in 8.0, OSM is now certified with Oracle Database 23ai. For more information, see the OSM Compatibility Matrix.
New Features in OSM Cloud Native
This release includes the following new features and enhancements in OSM Cloud Native release 8.0.
- OSM is now Catalog-Driven for TMF Product Orders (COM)
- Managing Fallout Orders Using the Fallout Management User Interface
- Automating OSM Cloud Native Operations for Continuous Delivery
Also see "New Features (Cloud Native and Traditional Deployments)" that lists new features and enhancements that are applicable to both cloud native and traditional deployments of OSM.
OSM is now Catalog-Driven for TMF Product Orders (COM)
This release supports a new, optional, design-time journey for building and deploying TMF cartridges to OSM. The new journey is distributed between two SCD (Service Catalog and Design) applications - Design Studio and Solution Designer.
A new OSM microservice, the OCA microservice, is the component responsible for merging the content from these two applications and deploying the resulting cartridge to OSM.

Managing Fallout Orders Using the Fallout Management User Interface
This release introduces updates in the Fallout Management user interface. This modern user interface provides dashboards for managing fallout orders.
This user interface can now be accessed only by users who have a fallout specialist role configured. You need the optional role, OSM_FALLOUT to be able to access the Fallout Orders dashboard. This release enables you to take remedial actions for an order experiencing fallout on both the order level as well as the task level.

Automating OSM Cloud Native Operations for Continuous Delivery
This release introduces support for automating OSM Continuous Delivery (CD) operations in a GitOps framework using the OSM Introspector Job and Flux CD.
The Introspector Job manages the lifecycle of OSM instance. All the configurations and deployment definitions are maintained in a Git repository, which is continuously monitored by Flux-CD for any changes.
For more information, see the OSM Cloud Native Deployment Guide.

Known Problems
In DB23ai Partition Purge Fails with the Error Index is in an Unusable State
ORA-20169: Parallel execution using DBMS_PARALLEL_EXECUTE failed
ORA-01502: index '<Schema>.XPKOM_ORDER_HEADER' or partition of such index is in an unusable state
ORA-01502: index '<Schema>.XPKOM_SEQUENCE' or partition of such index is in an unusable state
UPDATE om_parameter SET value = 'Y' WHERE mnemonic = 'db23_partitionpurge_fix'; commit;Invalid Frontend HTTP Port Error When SSL is Enabled During Discovery Phase in Traditional Installation
Problem: When you enable SSL but do not configure non-SSL ports. During the discovery phase for traditional installation, the script prompts you for the frontend HTTP port. The script continues to prompt for this value and enters a loop.
Workaround: Provide a placeholder port number for the frontend HTTP port. This port is not used anywhere else.
Newly Created Orders or Newly Deployed Cartridges Might Not Display in the OSM Web Client Occasionally
Problem: If you run a query for orders in the OSM Web client while new orders come into the system or a cartridge is newly deployed, the Web client might not display them.
Workaround: Logout and then login again to the Web client and the newly created orders will be visible.
Order-to-Activate Cartridge Compatibility
If you are using cartridges based on the Order-to-Activate Cartridge (O2A), you must make changes to your cartridges to adjust to changes in Java and the XQuery/XLST processor. Refer to the Knowledge Management article 3103723.1 (Upgrading Order-to-Activate Solution Cartridges for OSM 8.0.0) on My Oracle Support for detailed instructions on doing this.
