Migrating to a VM.Standard.E5.Flex Machine Shape

The SBC supports instance type modification for both standalone and HA deployments. Follow the steps below to migrate a SBC VM from the VM.Optimized3.Flex or VM.Standard2.X shape to the VM.Standard.E5.Flex shape.

  1. Upgrade the software on VM.Optimized3.Flex shape to the vSBC version that supports VM.Standard.E5.Flex shapes.

    Stop your instance by opening the Actions pulldown menu, and clicking the stop button, as shown below.

  3. Navigate to Actions, more actions, Edit, Edit Shape, and select the target shape name (AMD, VM.Standard.E5.Flex)OCI dialog - General Information 2

  4. Set the same number of OCPUs and amount of memory as that of VM.Optimized3.flex shape, then click save changes.The image below displays OCI dialog from which you set the number of CPUs.
  5. Start your migrated vSBC machine.

Note:

Changing instance type from VM.Optimized3.Flex to VM.Standard.E5.Flex is supported only when both the original and target instances have the same number of OCPUs, the same amount of memory, the same number of vNICs attached, and the same type of networking mode (SRIOV).
