Metric Types
Metric Types is a standard configuration interface for adding, editing, and removing the different Metric Types that are available to poll, their description, and their graph display properties.
Refer to the Standard Configuration Interface guide for details on interacting with the grid and form.
This user interface calls REST methods from api/metric/types.
To open this interface, from the main navigation menu, select Configuration, then Metrics, and then Metric Types.
Form Fields

Name - The name of the metric type.

Group - The metric group that the metric type will be a member of.

Format - The formatting type of the metric data.

Unit Name - Unit of the metric type, i.e. Seconds, Errors, Bits per Second, etc.

Abbreviation Name - The abbreviated name of the metric type.

Value Type - Type of value to be stored in the metrics of this type. Determines initial Maximum.

Raw sets no maximum.

Utilization sets maximum to 100.

Unit Division - The unit division to use when displaying the data.

Direction - TopN direction.

TopN Type - The TopN type to calculate.

TopN Scope - The TopN scope to use, if any.
Best Practices

Utilization metrics and metrics that utilize a TopN Scope must have a maximum value set in order to calculate the Utilization and TopN values.

The ID of the Metric Type is the unique ID for a particular metric type and is needed when crafting rules.
