Using the 95th Percentile Dashboard

You use the 95th Percentile Dashboard to view device resource utilization across the network with an emphasis on sustained peak usage while filtering out short-term spikes. Within the dashboard, you can identify devices approaching capacity limits and generate insights for capacity planning. You do this by reviewing the tabular device metrics and the Top-N panels that highlight devices with the highest 95th percentile utilization.

This dashboard includes the following panels:

Device Details

This panel shows a table in which each row represents a monitored device. The table includes the following columns:

Use this table to compare average utilization against sustained peak utilization to distinguish normal behavior from capacity risks.

Interface Details

This panel shows a table in which each row represents an interface. The table includes the following columns:

Use this table to compare average bandwidth utilization against sustained peak bandwidth utilization to distinguish normal behavior from capacity risks.

Top 10 Devices with Highest CPU Utilization (95th Percentile)

This panel shows a horizontal bar chart listing the devices with the highest 95th percentile CPU utilization for the selected time period. Each bar represents a device, with bar length indicating the 95th percentile CPU value. You can easily identify devices with consistently high CPU usage and investigate for optimization or scaling.

Top 10 Devices with Highest Memory Utilization (95th Percentile)

This panel shows a horizontal bar chart listing the devices with the highest 95th percentile memory utilization for the selected time period. Use this panel to quickly find devices under sustained memory pressure and assess potential memory exhaustion risks.

Note:

The Top-N panels are configurable. If you change the number of devices displayed (for example, Top 5, Top 20), update the panel title to match the selected value of N.
