Managing Multitenant NPM Dashboards

Learn how to view and manage Network Performance Management (NPM) dashboards in tenant-specific workspaces.

About Multitenant NPM Dashboards

NPM uses multitenancy in two ways:

Dashboard workspaces do not independently restrict NPM data. You can access only the data that your roles, user groups, and device zones allow.

Unified Assurance manages the tenant lifecycle and synchronizes each tenant with a corresponding OpenSearch dashboard workspace. The Global tenant contains the out-of-box dashboards. Tenant workspaces contain dashboard components for a specific tenant.

Prerequisites

Before you work with tenant-specific dashboards, make sure that:

For information about creating tenants, see Creating Tenants in the Unified Assurance Security Guide.

Viewing Dashboards Across Tenants

You may have access to more than one tenant workspace. The Unified Dashboards UI shows all dashboards that are available in the tenant workspaces that you can access, including those in the Global tenant workspace. To select a dashboard using the Unified Dashboards UI:

  1. From the main navigation, select Analytics, then select Events, then Dashboards.

    The Unified Dashboards UI appears.

  2. In Unified Dashboards, search or filter the dashboard list by title, type, description, or tenant.

  3. Open the dashboard that you want to view.

Unified Assurance opens the dashboard in its tenant workspace.

Managing Dashboards in a Tenant Workspace

Use Manage Dashboards to work with the dashboard components in a specific tenant workspace.

  1. From the main navigation, select Analytics, then select Events, then Dashboards.

    The Unified Dashboards UI appears.

  2. In Unified Dashboards, select Manage Dashboards.

  3. Open the user menu and select Switch tenants.

  4. Select the tenant workspace that you want to use.

  5. Create, edit, or delete dashboard components in the active tenant workspace.

Changes that you make in a tenant workspace apply only to that workspace. They do not change dashboard components in the Global tenant or in other tenant workspaces.

Creating a Tenant-Specific Dashboard

  1. From the main navigation, select Analytics, then select Events, then Dashboards.

    The Unified Dashboards UI appears.

  2. In Unified Dashboards, select Manage Dashboards.

  3. Open the user menu and select Switch tenants.

  4. Switch to the tenant workspace where you want to create the dashboard.

  5. Create and save the dashboard.

For information about creating dashboard panels and visualizations, see Creating Custom Dashboards.

The dashboard and its saved objects are available only in the active tenant workspace unless you clone them to another authorized tenant.

Cloning a Dashboard to Another Tenant

You can clone a dashboard from the Unified Dashboards UI when you have access to both the source and target tenant workspaces.

  1. From the main navigation, select Analytics, then select Events, then Dashboards.

    The Unified Dashboards UI appears.

  2. In Unified Dashboards, find the dashboard that you want to copy.

  3. Select Clone.

  4. Select the target tenant workspace and provide a title for the new dashboard.

  5. Create the clone.

The cloned dashboard is created in the target tenant workspace. The original dashboard remains unchanged.

Dashboard Access by Role

A Viewer can open dashboards in authorized tenant workspaces in read-only mode. An Operator can also create, edit, delete, and clone dashboard components in authorized tenant workspaces. Your user groups determine the tenant workspaces that are available to you.
