Using the Interface Overview Dashboard

You use the Interface Overview Dashboard to get a consolidated view of device interfaces and system instances, with real-time and historical performance metrics across various measurement categories. Within the dashboard, you monitor operational health, identify performance bottlenecks, and generate insights for capacity planning and troubleshooting. You do this by first selecting a dashboard tab and then by viewing and interpreting the dashboard panels that highlight key measurements for operations.

When navigating directly to this dashboard, use the filter menus at the top to select a specific interface by name. You can also navigate to this dashboard by clicking on a hyperlinked interface name in one of the other dashboards, like the Device Overview Dashboard.

The following dashboard tabs on this dashboard organize performance data into multiple categories:

Network

You use this tab for detailed visibility into interface-level performance and health, enabling you to identify congestion, packet loss, and interface errors.

This tab includes the following panels:

Status

This panel shows the administrative status and operational status of the interface. The administrative status is the state the interface was configured in. The operational status is the actual operational state of the interface. For both statuses, the values are either Up or Down.

Interface Details

This panel shows metadata for the selected interface, including the interface instance, device name, interface name, description, alias, and status.

Interface Table

This panel displays a table. Each row in the table contains an interface name, the corresponding device name, the inbound and outbound bandwidth of the interface, the inbound and outbound discards by the interface, and the inbound and outbound errors encountered by the interface.

Interface Inbound and Outbound Bandwidth

This panel displays traffic trends over time. Use it to identify traffic patterns, usage spikes, and saturation points.

Average Inbound Bandwidth Usage

This panel shows the average traffic received by the interface.

Average Outbound Bandwidth Usage

This panel shows the average traffic transmitted by the interface.

Packet Discards

This panel displays packets discarded by the interface over time. Use it to identify persistent or intermittent interface issues that may impact network reliability.

Packet Errors

This panel displays packet errors encountered by the interface over time. Use it to identify persistent or intermittent interface issues that may impact network reliability.

CPU Utilization

You use this tab to monitor processing load across device instances and check if system performance remains within acceptable thresholds.

This tab includes the following panels:

CPU Instances

This panel consists of a table that shows the name of instances and the corresponding CPU utilization of each instance in percentage. The CPU utilization percentage indicates the current CPU load per instance.

CPU Utilization

This panel displays device CPU utilization trends over time. Use it to identify sustained loads or abnormal spikes.

Current CPU Utilization (%)

This panel displays current CPU utilization. Use it for quick status assessments.

Instance List

This panel shows a table containing all instances of the device and selected metrics for each instance. The table consists of the following columns:

Memory Usage

You use this tab to identify memory consumption patterns across instances and support proactive resource management.

This tab includes the following panels:

Memory Usage Metrics

This panel consists of a table that shows the memory usage metrics of each memory instance. For each instance, the table has the following metrics:

Use this panel to analyse memory allocation and utilization trends.

Memory Usage

This panel displays memory utilization over time at the device level. Use it to identify sustained loads or abnormal spikes.

Current Memory Utilization

This panel displays current memory utilization. Use it for quick status assessments.
