Creating a Shell
You can create a shell in several ways
- Manually
- By copying a shell template
- By copying an existing shell
- By importing a CSV file
- By using a shell creation business process (BP)
When you create a shell from a shell template or by copying another shell, the system copies any shell dashboard in the source template or shell into the destination shell.
Shell name uniqueness is enforced differently for Company Sponsored Shells and shell templates.
- Company Sponsored Shell creation: When you create a Company Sponsored Shell, the system prevents you from using a name that already exists in the same company-sponsored shell context. This validation helps ensure that active company-sponsored shells have unique names and prevents ambiguity during shell identification and navigation.
If you try to create a shell by using a name that is already assigned to another shell of the same type, the system prevents the creation and displays a validation message.
- Shell template creation: The same uniqueness restriction does not apply when you create a shell template under the same shell type. You can create a shell template with a name that matches an existing Company Sponsored Shell name.
