Earned Value Analysis Sheet
To access the Earned Value Analysis (EVA) sheet:
- Go to the Earned Value Analysis log.
- Select your sheet.
- Select the gear menu (
), and select Open.
The sheet opens in a new window.
The upper section of the EVA sheet remains fixed across all tabs. It includes toolbar functions and a dynamic data table.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Filter |
Adjusts the view to show specific information. |
| Print |
Prints the sheet. |
| Data Date | Provides a list of historical dates. This option is available for graph based on Data Date. |
| Projects | Opens the Project Picker window, where you can select a project. The Project Picker window includes Find on Page. The project information is constrained by the selected Data Date. |
| Period | Provides a list of weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-year, yearly, and, when applicable, financial periods selected in the shell. This option is available for graph based on Period. |
| WBS or CBS | Lets you select WBS or CBS. The corresponding picker appears in the adjacent WBS Code or CBS Code field. The picker includes Expand, Collapse, and Find on Page. The available values are constrained by selections in the preceding fields. Select the WBS graph, then select the WBS picker to filter by OBS. If you select a project in the Project Picker, the WBS picker also displays WBS codes from the Unifier project. |
| WBS Code or CBS Code | Opens the WBS Picker or CBS Picker window, depending on the selected WBS or CBS option. |
| Cost & Rate Type | Displays available rate- type and cost-type breakdowns. Select a rate-type or a cost-type grouping to filter the costs by the selected breakdown rows. |
| Apply | Applies the selections in the drop-down fields. |
| Reset | Removes zoom or filters applied through the curve picker. |
The middle section of the EVA sheet contains a Dynamic Data Table.
The headings for the dynamic data table depend on the graph type:
- Project
- All is displayed when all projects have the same Data Date.
- All (Filtered) is displayed when projects have different Data Dates, and projects with the selected Data Date are filtered in the view.
- WBS displays the calculated values for the point plotted in the graph.
- Cost & Rate Type displays the cost and rate types in the graph.
The dynamic data table can also include the following headings:
- Date
- Earned Value metrics that correspond to the selected tab. For example, the Cumulative tab includes PV, EV, AC, ETC, RC, CPI, and SPI.
The middle section of the EVA sheet contains the following tabs:
- Cumulative
- Incremental, which applies only to period-based graphs
- At Completion
- Variance
- Indices
The graph displayed depends on the selected tab.
Curve Picker: Select or clear the colored boxes in the legend to filter the curves that you want to view.

Unit-Based Earned Value Analysis
Unit-Based Graph
Planned Units and Actual Units are rolled up for Project, WBS, and CBS from the Activity Sheet. Unifier calculates EV using the following formula:
EV Units = BAC Units* PPC
Unit-Based Grid
For a unit-based graph, the grid displays units instead of costs, such as Planned Units and Actuals Units. The values for Variances, Indices, and At Completion are also based on units.
Unit-Based Top Bar
For a unit-based graph, the bar display units instead of costs (Planned units, Actuals Units, and so forth). The Variances, Indices, and At Completion values are also updated based on the values.
Remaining Cost Includes Remaining Cost/Units
Cost Sheet: After you create multiple EVA graphs, the Cost Sheet drop-down menu displays all cost-based graphs.
Roll Up Actuals to EVA
The Amount and the uuu_quantity fields are rolled up to the WBS Sheet and used as Actuals in the EVM sheet.
Unlike the existing Cost Sheet column, which creates a new row in the EVM sheet, the new BP rolls up to the WBS and CBS for a P6 project. Because Unifier captures units in the EVM, you can add uuu_quantity to roll up units to the EVM sheet.
Note:
Unifier Actuals assigned to a completed activity, with an Effective Date before the Activity Finish Date, are not rolled up to the EVA Sheet because Unifier considers these Actuals historical data.Cost-Based EVA Scenario
In the EVA Sheet, the Actuals amount is rolled up by associated WBS when you select a new Cost-type BP, either CBS or WBS, as the Cost Sheet column source. You can use filter to view the Actuals associated with the selected WBS codes. During EVM calculation, Unifier uses uuu_effective_date to place the actual amount in the applicable EVM month.
When you filter by WBS codes in the EVA Sheet, Actuals data appears in two separate rows for Unifier and P6 Actuals.
By default, the Project view displays all Actuals, including Actuals from the Cost Sheet column source.
When you filter by CBS codes in a cost-based EVA scenario, the Actuals amount is rolled up by the associated CBS. When you filter by CBS or by P6 Projects, you can view the Unifier and P6 Actuals separately for the selected CBS codes.
Filtering by CBS Codes
The rolled-up Actual Cost is displayed in the EVA Sheet for the selected CBS codes only when a valid CBS-WBS combination is allocated to the line item. The rolled-up Actual Cost is displayed when you select a CBS assigned to the corresponding activity and a WBS code from the same p6 project.
Filtering by WBS Codes
The rolled-up Actual Cost is displayed in the EVA Sheet for the selected WBS codes even when an invalid CBS-WBS combination is allocated to the line item. The rolled-up Actual Cost is displayed when you select a CBS assigned to the corresponding activity and a WBS code from the same or different P6 project.
Units-Based EVA Scenario
The WBS Sheet column field is available as the Actual source in a unit-based EVA scenario. The available sources include all WBS Sheet columns of type SYS BP Decimal Amount. You can select any new CBS-type or WBS-type BP columns of type SYS BP Decimal Amount that was added to the WBS Sheet as WBS Sheet column source.
Formula columns based on CBS-type or WBS-type BP columns of type SYS BP Decimal Amount are also available for selection.
By default, Actual Units for each project include the quantity rolled up from a new Cost-type BP when you select the Actual Units as the WBS Sheet column source.
When you filter by WBS codes, the associated Actual Units, including uuu_quantity, are displayed.
When you filter by CBS codes, the associated Actual Units are displayed. The same behavior applies when you select other Cost-type BPs as the Cost Sheet column source. The graph includes the Actual Units from the WBS Sheet column source.
