Earned Progress and Earned Value
If you have access to the Earned Value Manager (EVM) module, you can use it to determine whether a project is on schedule and within budget. Based on the earned value analysis (EVA), the project manager can determine whether corrective action is needed to complete the project within its constraints. Corrective actions can include changing the project scope, extending the schedule, or adding resources.
Earned Value Analysis
An important part of EVA is capturing project progress. The general contractor or person responsible for the project typically provides progress information. You can analyze the progress information to determine the project status relative to the budget and schedule.
EVA uses multiple parameters to determine whether a project is on schedule and within budget. These parameters include budget, progress, and actual cost. Consider all parameters together to determine the current state of a project.

uuu_effective_date to assign the actual amount to the applicable EVM month. This behavior aligns with the established period-assignment behavior for CBS and work breakdown structure (WBS) BP actuals.
Note:
The Cost Sheet column is an Actual Cost-only input. It does not update Budget at Completion (BAC), Planned Value (PV), Earned Value (EV), Activity Sheet values, or other EVM measures.- Avoid using Cost Sheet columns that contain multiple BP sources for the same actual cost transactions unless duplicate prevention is explicitly supported.
- Ensure that
uuu_effective_dateis populated consistently for CBS and WBS BP records and CBS-only BP records and line items. EVM month assignment uses this date. - Assign CBS-only BP values to the month specified by the BP
uuu_effective_date, not to the current Data Date month. - When a CBS-only BP does not align with an activity or WBS, Actual Cost might be available at the CBS and month levels but not at the activity level. This depends on whether the existing EVM allocation logic supports that distribution.
