Single Instance Shells
You can select Single Instance Shells components and include them in the component list that is required to create configuration packages. In the destination environment, the system inserts the selected components or overwrites them if they exist.
Note:
- The Replace in Destination option is not available for components in this node because the system overwrites all components.
- In Single Instance Shells, settings such as Workflow Setup are instance-specific, not template-driven. You can adjust these settings directly in the destination environment to meet project-specific requirements, such as, assignee groups, CC users, completion policies. Because of this behavior, the system does not overwrite these settings when you import additional configuration packages. You can import the Workflow Setup for business processes (BPs), the Dashboard, and the Planning Manager from the source server to the destination server during the first import of the Single Instance Shell. For later imports, the system treats changes on the source server as No Change and does not them to the destination server. To update Workflow Setup and other settings for Single Instance Shells, apply the changes manually in the destination environment after the initial import.
The Single Instance Shells section displays the available shells for selection. Select a shell before you select any of the following sub-nodes:
- Access Control
- Setup
- Rules
- User Defined Reports
- Custom Report Schedules
The components are grouped by the shell template that you select. The following sections describe each component under Components:
Access Control
You can select Access Control permissions and include them in the component list that is required to create configuration packages. The selected permissions overwrite or insert group permissions in the destination environment.
The permissions available for selection are grouped under these headers:
- Administration Mode Access
- User Mode Access
The Module column is available under each node in the list. It displays modules such as Activity Manager/Activity Sheet, Visualizations, and so on.
For static modules, the system does not perform error checks during component analysis. For dynamic modules, such as BP setup in Administration Mode Access or Data Cubes as Non-navigational Nodes in User Mode Access, the system displays a message during component analysis if you select modules that depend on components that you did not select. The message indicates that the dependent object is not selected, but the permissions are selected.
After a successful import, the system updates the permissions for the selected modules. For dynamic modules, the transferred permissions do not include the dependent components in the destination environment and the configuration package, the system does not import the permissions into the destination environment and displays a message. If the dependent components exist in the destination environment, the system updates the permissions when the import completes successfully.
For "creator users," the permissions are set to the "importer user" during configuration package creation and in the destination environment.

Defining Shell-Specific Custom Print Templates for Business Processes
In addition to editing shells for which you have permissions, you can view all Custom Print Templates and define them at the shell level. After you choose a shell template in the Company Workspace tab, select
in the upper-right corner of the dashboard, and then select Details. In the Details window, a Custom Print Template tab is available.
The Custom Print Template tab contains a short description of its function and an Add Selective Custom Print Templates checkbox. The checkbox is cleared by default, which means every template that is available for BPs is available at runtime. If the checkbox is selected, only the selected templates are available at runtime, and you can add them to the shell.
When you select the checkbox, a grid appears with
Add Templates and Find on Page
options. When you select Add Templates, a new window opens where you can select a BP from the list.
After you choose a BP, you can select the custom print templates that you want to add to the shell. The options for custom template options includes all Published and Legacy templates.
After you select one or more templates, you can add them to the Selected Items list by selecting the Right arrow. If you want to remove a template from the list, select the template, and then select the Left arrow. After you select Save, the Add Custom Print Template window closes, and the selected templates appear in the previous grid.
To delete a newly added template, select Delete
in the far-right column of the grid. To find a specific template, select Find on Page.
