Composite Objects
Composite objects are made up of individual part objects. The geometry of a composite object comes from the collection of its parts. By default, individual or part objects of composites/assemblies are selectable in the 3D model.
For example, if you select the railing of a staircase in a model, only the railing is selected if the Composite selection is toggled off. With the Composite selection toggled on, selecting the railing of the staircase will select the entire staircase.
Once a composite or part object is selected, you can view and manipulate its properties, visibility, and visual styling (for example, its transparency).
