Reference Data for the Digital Twin
Reference data gives the digital twin the country-specific structure needed to present agricultural information in a meaningful reporting context.
Administrative Regions
Provide the authoritative administrative boundaries and hierarchy that users recognize in national reporting. Each region should have a stable identifier, a clear name, and geometry that fits correctly within its parent region. The hierarchy should be complete enough to support the administrative levels that users need to search, select, and compare in Visual Explorer.
When official boundaries or names change, provide the revised information promptly and explain the effective date so that reporting continuity can be reviewed.
Crop and Season Reference Information
Provide the crops that are relevant to the deployment, together with recognized names, classification context, and priority where applicable. A crop becomes available to Visual Explorer only when the supporting data is suitable for customer use; a configured crop is not automatically available for every layer or date.
Provide season information that explains expected planting, growth, and harvest windows for each relevant crop and region. Season context helps agronomists and data stewards review whether available observations and production information align with local agricultural practice.
Historical Production and Area Information
Provide available historical production and area information at the reporting levels used by the country. Include the crop, reporting year or season, reporting unit, source, and any important definition or coverage notes.
Historical information gives users context for the current crop-production view. It should be maintained as a reference source and should not be presented as directly equivalent to a current model-derived forecast.
Supporting Local Context
Where available and appropriate, provide supporting information that improves local interpretation, such as soil, terrain, agro-ecological context, or relevant agricultural infrastructure. Confirm the source, ownership, coverage, and update cadence before it is used in the digital twin.
