Create and Edit a Storm Model

As a storm approaches in your service territory, you can create a new storm model that estimates when the storm will start and exit the area, how many customers will lose power, and which zones the storm will impact. You can also edit the storm model's details. After you create a storm model, you can add one or more Estimated Restoration Timelines (ERTs) to it.

Create a Storm Model

  1. Log in to Oracle Utilities Analytics Insights.

  2. Click Explore > Storm > ERT. The Storm ERT dashboard displays.

  3. Click New Storm Model.

  4. In the Create/Edit Storm Model dialog that displays, enter a value in each field. All of this information can be edited later.

    • Model Name: Create a distinct name for the storm model. For example, you could add a name that contains a month and year, such as "Sally December 2022".

    • Estimated Number of Customers: Indicate the estimated number of customers who may lose power. Base this number on similar storms that have occurred in the past. For example, if the upcoming storm has severity and size characteristics similar to a storm in the past, then you can use your knowledge of that storm to enter your estimate.

    • Estimated Storm Start Date/Time: Indicate the estimated date and time when the storm will enter your service area.

    • Estimated Storm Exit Date/Time: Indicate the estimated date and time when the storm will leave your service area.

    • Affected Zone(s): Select one or more zones in your service area that will be affected by the storm, based on the forecasted path of the storm.

    • Season: Select the season in which the storm will occur. If the duration of the storm will span multiple days at the end of one season and the beginning of another, you can select more than season.

  5. Click Create. The model is added as a draft to the list of storm models in the dashboard. As a next step, you can add one or more ERTs to it.
