A commodity meter measures the amount of a commodity that has been consumed by a Person or Organization at their commodity service point. It can measure multiple different consumption metrics as well non consumption based metrics such as ambient temperature. Note: a serial number is the unique meter identifier from the original manufacturer whereas a badge number is the unique meter identifier created by and tagged by the utility company.
