Provisioning OCI Resources in Data Exchange

Overview

The resources for Data Exchange must be provisioned in a fairly heirachical way from top to bottom in the list below.

Initial Resources To Provision

To get started with Data Exchange, create these initial resources:

Resource Name Why It Exists How To Get Started
Data Exchange This top-level resource allows you to group Data Stores by organization or for other grouping requirements. A Data Exchange resource can have multiple Data Stores. Provisioning a Data Exchange
Data Store A managed database instance that holds raw and enriched data. A Data Store is associated with a Data Exchange and can have multiple Assets. Provisioning a Data Store
Models The industry-specific data structures that define how data is organized and standardized within a Data Exchange. Models are used to create Collections, which in turn hold the actual data. Models are provided by Oracle and can be selected when creating a Collection.

Highly Repetitive Resources To Provision

After you have created an initial Data Exchange and Data Store, you must create resources to organize and standardize your data. The Asset and Collection resource can be created repeatedly within a Data Store to organize data.

Resource Name Why It Exists How To Get Started
Asset A landing area for raw data within a Data Store used to organize source system data. An Asset can contain multiple Collections. Work through the actions for loading data.
Collection A Collection groups your raw data into a standardized, repeatable collection of data that is aligned to an Industry Model. Collections are semantically rich, ready-to-share versions of your source system data. Work through the actions for mapping and standardizing data.
