About Points
A point represents a time series. For example, a point can be represented by the temperature of a piece of equipment or the open/close status of a breaker.
Points are defined by the following:
Description and Detailed Description - Optional. You can type the same information for both fields if necessary.
Point External ID - The name of the point. You can use this name to search for its historical values.
Unit ID - The unit to which the point belongs. The Unit ID appears in the field as a numerical value, while the Unit Type and Unit Name display on the right, outside the field.
Point Identifiers - Identifiers for the point, each identifier is defined by a Point IDtype (defined using the L1_​POINT_​ID_​TYPE_​FLG lookup) and value.
Characteristics - Related to the point, each characteristic is defined by a sequence, characteristic type, and value.
Point Relationships - Related points, each defined by a Point Relationship type (defined using the L1_​POINT_​REL_​TYPE_​FLG lookup) and the related point ID.
Downsampling Retention Policy Relationship - Related to the point, each defined by a Downsampling Retention Policy, Downsampling Date, User, and the date/time when the relationship was created or updated.
