About Units
Points are organized into groups called Units. A single Unit can contain many points, and a single point is only directly associated with one Unit. Admin users can add Units to a database, and each unit in a database can be mapped to an external name (a unique string).
Units are defined by the following:
Description - Description of the unit that displays with other information in search results.
Unit External ID - A short, human-readable name to uniquely specify the unit that displays with other information in search results.
Unit Identifier - Used by the Oracle Utilities Application Framework to identify a Unit.
Unit Relationship - Can be related to a unit in a parent/child relationship. One Unit can be a parent to other units specified by its Unit Relationship information. This information displays with other information in search results.
Characteristics - Related to the Unit. Each characteristic is defined by a sequence, characteristic type, and value.
