During switching operations, the Look Ahead window allows you to preview the results of switching actions before you perform them. Look Ahead displays information including customers dropped/picked up, critical customers dropped/picked up, and load kVA.

With Power Flow Extensions, the Look Ahead window also includes information about the power flow solution, including the voltage, angle, and current changes that will result from a switching operation. The number of voltage and conductor violations is displayed at the top of the Look Ahead.

When you select an operation from the Control Tool, you can click the Run Power Flow button on the Look Ahead window to see what the effect would be if you completed the operation. If the device's island is configured to solve using kVA mode, the Power Flow Results tab will display (kVA); if it is configured to solve in Power Flow mode, it will display (Power Flow).

The results are displayed at the top of the Look Ahead window and any violations resulting from the action are displayed in the Violations Tab tab. For information about the Look Ahead window, see “Using the Look Ahead Dialog Box”.
